What the brewers say

In champagne, brut means very dry. pFriem Brut IPA features notes of papaya, watermelon, vinho verde, and pineapple with a quenching finish.

What our panel thought

Earthy, spicy, and woody hops aroma, medium strong, somewhat dank. Some tropical fruit background aromas. Assertive hops flavor has most of the aroma compounds. Some cracker malt flavor in finish. Berry-like hops flavors persist into the aftertaste. Overall easy to drink, clean, and crisp.

What our editors thought

A light and perfumy nose is gentle and engaging, while the softest of hops-bitterness profiles and dry body with a vague chardonnay-grape and oak-tannin note sell the brut idea well.

New Belgium Brewing Voodoo Ranger Foeslayer IPA

A small-batch collab—there are only 30 barrels—between Voodoo Ranger and Acquisitions Incorporated, this 7 percent ABV DDH hazy IPA is loaded with Mosaic, Strata, and Sabro hops for a big, round tropical aroma and a super- smooth mouthfeel.
